The Scholarship Fund was renamed in 2001 in honor and memory of Henry J. Dende. Henry was a well respected and dearly beloved man who was President of the Polish Union for thirty-six years, until his death in January of 2001. Henry strongly believed in encouraging our young adult members to further their education in order to become more productive and educated leaders.

Scholarship Requirements

Applicants must be a qualified insured member of the Polish Union of U.S.A. in good standing (paid up to date) for a Minimum of Five (5) years and Presently Carry a Minimum of $5,000.00 of Polish Union of U.S.A. Permanent Life Insurance (excludes term insurance).

Scholarship grants are issued once per year. All approved applicants are eligible to receive up to and including four (4) scholarship grants.

Applicant must submit a letter of admission or verification from the college, junior college, university, graduate, business, nursing, or trade school that he or she will be attending for the current year they wish to receive a scholarship for.

The applicant must be a high school graduate, entering the fall term in the year he or she is applying for the scholarship grant, and must be a full time student (12 semester credit hours).

How to Apply

All applicants must complete the scholarship grant application and submit a three page scholarly paper within the required deadline date. Topics for the scholarly paper will be provided with the scholarship application each year.

Scholarship Amounts

• Approved applicants with between $5,000 and $7,499 of insurance will receive a grant of $200.00
• Approved applicants with between $7,500 and $9,999 of insurance will receive a grant of $300.00
• Approved applicants with between $10,000 and $14,999 of insurance will receive a grant of $400.00
• Approved applicants with between $15,000 and $19,999 of insurance will receive a grant of $600.00
• Approved applicants with $20,000 or more of insurance will receive a grant of $800.00

Additional insurance can be purchased in order to receive higher scholarship grants. The new insurance applications must be submitted before April 25th of the current year they wish to receive a scholarship for in order to qualify for that year.
